Murine® Irritation & Redness Relief is an eye drop solution. It is used to quickly clear redness and soothe eyes which have been irritated, for example by dusty atmospheres, wind, swimming, smoke, air pollutants, or close work such as reading and computer use.
Active Ingredients
This product contains naphazoline hydrochloride (0.012%w/v) as the active ingredient as well as containing benzalkonium chloride, boric acid (E284), borax (E285), disodium edetate, and purified water.
Indications - Uses
Murine® Irritation & Redness Relief Eye Drops contains the active ingredient naphazoline hydrochloride which belongs to the
group of medicines called local vasoconstrictors, these act by narrowing the blood vessels in the eye, thereby reducing redness and swelling.
MURINE Irritation & Redness Relief is fast acting and has a long lasting action.
Warnings & Precautions
BEFORE YOU USE:
Do not use if you or your child (12+) are sensitive or allergic to naphazoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients in this medicine.
When using this product, avoid contact with soft contact lenses. Remove contact lenses prior to application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. Do not use in children under 12 years of age. This product may not be suitable for you if you are taking certain medications or have other problems with your eyes – you must read the patient information leaflet before first use and if in doubt please talk with your pharmacist or doctor. Do not use the medicine if it changes colour or becomes cloudy
TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST BEFORE USE:
If you think you have, or are being treated for: high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, over-active thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism), problems with your heart or your blood circulation (cardiovascular abnormalities), thickening of the blood vessels (arteriosclerosis), any eye condition for which you are under the care of your doctor, depression, experience eye pain or changes in your eyesight
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Important information about some of the ingredients of this medicine. This product contains benzalkonium chloride. This may cause eye irritation. Benzalkonium chloride is known to discolour soft contact lenses. Avoid contact with soft contact lenses.
Driving and using machinery. If you experience blurred vision, do not drive or operate machinery until your sight has cleared.
Method of Use
Use this medicine only in your eyes. Adults (including the elderly) and children over 12 years:
Place one or two drops into each eye 2-3 times a day
Wash your hands before using the drops
Tilt your head back and carefully pull down your lower eyelid
Without touching the eyelid with the tip of the dropper, put one or two drops into your lower lid and then blink a few times to make sure your whole eye is covered by the liquid
Replace cap securely on the bottle
If you have increased redness of the eye or no improvement after 24 hours, stop taking the product and see a doctor. Overuse may produce increased redness of the eye. Should this occur, discontinue use.
Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, these drops can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. All medicines can cause allergic reactions, although serious allergic reactions are very rare. Stop using the product and seek medical help immediately if you experience: allergic reactions such as itching or rashes, pain in the eye and a change in vision, stinging or irritation in the eye caused by using too many drops or using them too often.
Your eyes may sting a little just after you use the drops. If they sting badly, or if your eyes get worse, stop using the drops and tell your doctor or pharmacist. You may also experience blurred vision for a short time after application. If you notice any other side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist. If any of the side effects get serious or you notice any side effects not listed here, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
